Oops, Republicans did it again… Threw low income women to the wolves that is.
You know, for having a president that likes to grab pussies so often, you would think he would like to make sure those pussies are healthy and well taken care of.
Before Obama left office, he made a last ditch effort to protect Planned Parenthood and stop states from withholding funding and essentially discriminating against the organization.
Last week, Donald Trump held up a big middle finger to women everywhere by reversing this policy and allowing states to withhold funding from organizations that provide abortions.
There were no camera. No photo ops. No tweets. Why? Maybe even this dick knows it’s fucking embarrassing.
Thank you for making back alley abortions necessary again. Thank you for making birth control inaccessible again. Thank you for making the government not care about women again. Wait, it never did. Never-mind.
Planned Parenthood does more than just abortions. PP says only 3% of its services are abortions. You know what? I don’t care if 99.9% of its services included abortion procedures. Abortions are cool. Planned Parenthood is cool. It’s all super cool.
It shouldn’t matter if PP does 1 abortion a year, or does 1 million abortions a year. What it comes down to is that they are providing a legal service and a valid medical procedure that has been found to be constitutionally protected.
Since the Hyde Amendment, no federal money has gone to abortions any way. So you’re not taking money away from abortions, you’re taking money away from STD screening and birth control. Oh, those aren’t important. They only stop pregnancy aka the entire reason for having an abortion and people from getting sick and dying or requiring a life time of expensive treatments.
They’re taking away funding from the “good things?”
They’re taking away funding from things that help women.
They’re taking away funding from things that help men.
They’re taking away funding from things that work to help stop the cycle of poverty.
They’re taking away funding from things that help women continue their education and graduate college and get a good paying job and allow them to have families on their own time in their own way with their consent.
Women in general, but especially low income women and women from rural areas are going to be hard hit. Poor women maybe can’t afford to go to the designer obgyn office in your gentrified city. What about rural women who only have PP as their sole women’s healthcare provider? You’re leaving these women in the dust and are telling them that their health and wellness isn’t as valuable or as important.
I can’t think of anything worse or more disgusting or life ending than personally becoming pregnant. I can’t think of anything more horrible than having to raise a child I never wanted for the next 18 years of my life and then some. I can’t think of anything more depressing than adding another child to the system. And I can’t stand for people that want to make this a reality for other women.
